The field and forests in the Trolley Marsh Preserve offer excellent game bird habitat and are a favorite of hunters. It's also a great winter outdoor recreation spot. In the warmer seasons, please take precautions to repel ticks.
The .8-mile trail leads down an old logging road to the Georges River. You'll enjoy views of riverfront salt hay marsh and a gradual descent through young hardwood forests, mature pine, and blooming fields above the Georges River. This stretch of the river is great to visit by boat. The remains of an early 1900s trolley route cross the trail and parts of a bridge can still be seen.
The trail can become seasonally wet and is all downhill going in. Though very gradual you will notice the incline on the way back.
